Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Sauce

Got positive feedback today on the scorpion sauce, well I'll class that as the highlight of the two days of crap craft fairs on Friday and Saturday, poorer sales than expected on Friday at my old offices, and a very poor day on Saturday, didn't even make my stall fee - don't want any more of those thank you!

bridge club Xmas dinner

So, a busy day, got a load of gardening done at IHs, including grass cutting - wow, first of the year. Planted a few everlasting wallflowers, and some primulas that IH had bought. More to do on Wednesday if the weather is any good, pretty bad tonight, wet and very windy and due to get worse.

Been out for tea tonight to the Oaks for Mike's Bridge club Christmas dinner, which is always in March, food was delicious, a choice of 4 roasts with loads of different salads and then sticky toffee pudding, Mike and Stuart won an award for the most grand slams made. That's because they always overbid and sometimes occasionally manage it!

Monday 30th march 2015

Dry and mild day today so far, not sure what to expect weather wise, I've got a busy day today, gardening for IH most of the day, plus whatever other jobs she needs me to do, then need to visit Mrs H in the care home before back home to shower for tonight, going out to belated Christmas dinner with Mike's Bridge club, will no doubt be quizzed by some of the ladies on my gardening plans and when I can fit them in. Looking forward to the day really, it's about time I got back on the gardening, what with IH and Mrs H illness/injury, I've not done any all year yet- apart from my own.

Windy night

Just been watching Déjà Vu with Denzel Washington, seen it before but a good film and couldn't quite remember the end...then had a déjà Vu moment 5 mins before the end - tut!
Wind blowing an absolute hooli out there, hope my little plants are safe.

Tom Kha Gai

Made some soup as Mike is feeling under the weather, I've made this once before and it's wonderful soup, really perks you up.
Put a can of coconut milk in a pan along with 250ml of chicken stock ( or water and stock cube) plus 4 torn up kaffir lime leaves and 5cm piece of galangal ( grated)
Simmer for a few minutes while cutting up 250g of chicken breast into thin slivers, add the chicken, along with a finely chopped de-seeded thai chilli, 2 tbsp fish sauce, 1.5tbsp lime juice , 1 tbsp grated palm sugar and a handful of chopped fresh coriander.
Leave it all to simmer away for 15 mins and then serve up
Yum

Tomatoes planted

Planted tomatoes- Salsa, Roma, gardener's delight, black cherry, cerise and cherry. Will have hundreds of plants if all the seeds germinate.
Planted Chilli - Habanero, Thai, Cayenne, Anaheim, jalapeño, Apache and some random spare seeds that I'm not sure what they are.
Planted peppers - yellow bell & California wonder, Cucumber - Cetriolo Melone & courgettes - Nano verde do Milano, Tondo chiaro di Nizza & Black Beauty.
Started on herb planting - coriander and black basil

Tidied up the clematis that are still in pots, need to check pruning groups

did an hour or so of weeding and cut back the Buddleia and planted up some Iris that I got from Mrs H before she sold the house, really want them to do well as they will always be a reminder for me of her.
Update...8april had forgotten that I bought 4 small tomato plants for 1.99 from Deans garden centre a while ago and have had them at IHs in her sun room, when I was there yesterday one of them was wilting from lack of water, so as she is away this week, I've brought them home, they needed repotting anyway and so repotted last night. These are moneymaker tomatoes,  which I've never bought or grown before, as they aren't supposed to have the best of flavours, but hey ho, worth a try, they are looking good at the moment

Sunday 29 March 2015

So, here's to my new blog..
Not sure how this will go, but have been thinking for a while about an on line diary, so, on a miserable wet Sunday morning here goes!
I want to get started on planting seeds today, tomatoes for certain and I don't think it's too early for beans, will have a search though my packets of seeds and see what else there is.
I'm using my ipad and need to work out how to load photos to the blog, why is everything so difficult.
