Iris - first one

Just outside weeding and edging after cutting the lawns this morning and come across this beauty, it's the first of my bearded iris to flower this year, it's only small, as it is a dwarf specimen, Pumila Blue, but it's gorgeous, I love my Iris, I have many and they really should like our dry sandy soil, but most of them never really seem happy here and I struggle every year to coax them through both summer and winter. I refuse to give up on them though. It made me smile to see what I hope will be, the first of many to photograph this year.
